SWVA Elite U14 Girls are leading in the Skyline League

Game recap:

The SWVA Elite U14 Girls played at SVU in Harrisonburg on Sunday, September 22nd. In the first half, the girls defended well and earned some chances on goal against the run of play, and in the 20th minute Taylor Spence slotted home a 20-yard shot just inside the far post to give the girls a 1-0 halftime advantage. In the second half, the girls continued to defend well and maintained a possession edge, and midway through the half Morgan Mullens scored from just outside the box to put the team up 2-0. The girls held strong from that point on, generating more chances but not converting, and finished with a 2-0 win. Eliza Stowe made some good saves to post the shutout in goal, and the defensive back line consisting of Blake Carroll, Kaitlyn Heinze, Leigh Kadlec, Erin Straley, Megan Talarek and Christina Tarasidis played well together and keep SVU’s athletic attackers from generating many chances. The girls are now atop the Skyline U14 Girls table with three wins in three matches. Keep up the great work, ladies!
