Weather Policy Reminder

Weather Policy Reminder: We play in the rain. According to the forecast now (10:25p) there is a moderate chance of rain for the morning games, but no thunderstorms. All games should proceed as scheduled until and unless we close the fields. At this point, we plan to keep all fields open and play all games.

If there is thunder/lightning in the area, fields must be cleared for 30 minutes after the final occurrence. PreK/U8 coaches need to make the decision, U10+ the referee makes the decision.

If your game does not get played or if you play less than one half, please email christiansburgsoccer@gmail.com with your match details so it can possibly be rescheduled.

A decision for PreK activities will be made by 9:30a since the possibility of storms increases around 11a.

Kindergarten is on – 4/21

Kindergarten activities will continue as scheduled for this evening. The weather forecast shows that the storms will hold off until after everyone clears the field. (As of 3:45pm, the storms are not expected until 7:30pm.)

If storms look like they’re arriving sooner than forecasted, skip the practice portion of your evening and get to the game. If thunder/lightning is in the area you must clear the field immediately.

U9 Boys Travel to Fredericksburg

Players from the U9 Boys Academy team traveled to Fredericksburg,  VA to play in the FSCI March Friendlies over the weekend.

The boys played four games at the Fredericksburg Friendlies.  Two games were played against the St. Mary’s Soccer Strikers (Maryland) and two games were played against the Lee Mount Vernon Patriots.

While they lost all four games, it was a great experience for everyone.  Last season, our academy teams dominated most of our local competition.  The Friendlies presented a significantly higher challenge and we faced some adversity for the first time.  The boys responded well and learned some important lessons on spacing and defending that will help through the rest of the season.

Great work, team!

Friendlies are competitive games when the scores don’t count for league play. This game format is an excellent way for teams and players to continue their development while playing teams that are typically outside their area and/or at a different skill level.

The Academy Program is focused on individual player development and is the bridge between recreational play and competitive travel play.  For more information on the program, please visit us at: https://csoccer.org/competitive-league/

Summer Training Opportunity Through SWVA Rush

Adam Ritchie will be offering a 5 week (10 session) summer soccer training program for players born 2007-2004 boys and girls and players born 2003-2000 Boys and Girls starting June 12th

Training opportunity limited to 25 players (per Age Group) that want to improve their soccer skills during the off season and want to put the work in over the summer. This has sold out the last 2 years.

We will have different college coaches from across the region running a number of these sessions over the summer. That list will be put out as we get closer.

The program will focus on improving technical skills, small group tactical development, speed of play, and creativity.   The topics covered in this program are areas where college coaches as well as high school coaches feel players are lacking when they attend College ID camps and HS tryouts.  Your son or daughter will start attending College ID camps within the next 2 years if they are not already doing so.  The training they are involved in now will have a direct effect on how they are playing in 2 years!  All training will be at Bisset Park
Should my child participate in this program over a camp?
I would never recommend a player not to get as many touches on the ball as possible.  The difference between a residential camp or day camp and this program is a camp lasts only 3+ days.  After those 3 days what structured environment are the players training in?  While this program is designed to give the player training opportunities over a 5 week period with sessions twice a week.
Location:
All training is on Mondays and Wednesdays
(4:00pm-5:30pm 2007-2004)
(5:30-7:00pm-2003-2000)
All training will be held at Bisset Park.
Training Dates:
June 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28
