Stay out of any saturated or damaged areas and safely move goals from goal boxes for practices.
We are go for fun for tonight. I bet those kiddos need to run off some energy. Kindergarten practices and games can be played as scheduled.
Coaches, please be sure to set-up your teams away from any saturated areas.
A decision for tomorrow’s matches will be decided later on today. Sunday matches are a go.
The fields are wet, saturated, or have standing water on them making them unsafe for play. All CSC rec matches have been cancelled for today. This includes U8, U10, U13, U18, and PreK. This also includes any teams that had games on NRU fields in Blacksburg.
Stay dry this weekend.
Did you know that CSC offers a Developmental Academy Program for all players that love the beautiful game of soccer and want to learn more about the sport?
We are currently seeking girls and boys with birth years 2011, 2010, and 2009 to participate in our academy program for the fall. The program is open to all players that have a desire to learn more about soccer and spend time developing their skills. No specific skills or experience required; just a love of the sport and the desire to learn more.
Note: This is NOT a competitive program, this is a learning program for players who have a love of soccer and want to have fun while focusing on their developing their skills.
For more information about the program and to register, visit our website at: https://csoccer.org/academy-program/
*If you’ve already registered for rec, but want to give academy a try, that’s perfectly fine. Just register – for FREE – for the pre-season academy camps and then decide which program you like best. But, if your player LOVES soccer, then we are certain that the Academy program is going to be a good fit. If not, they get guaranteed placement on a rec roster. It’s a win-win!
Background information for players beginning this season:
Over the past six years we have been slowly building our academy program in order to offer CSC players the opportunity to further develop their individual skills and to foster a love of the beautiful game. These last two seasons we have seen our Developmental Academy Program grow to be the largest in the area. With this rapid growth and success, it is now time to make some changes to better serve the players as we continue to grow together. We’re excited for the changes beginning this fall and hope that all of you will see the benefit.
The most exciting of these changes is the introduction of an Academy Director. We are thrilled to announce that Daniel Fisher has agreed to be our Developmental Academy Director. Coach Fisher has coached academy soccer for four years before moving on to coach in the travel program. He is a U.S. Soccer certified coach whose knowledge covers all facets of the game. His temperament is ideally suited for this role and combined with his coaching experience will undoubtedly make our program even more successful.
Coach Fisher will oversee the training curriculum, coaching staff, and individual player development for both the boys and the girls academy programs. We hope that you will join us in welcoming Coach Fisher as Academy Director.
In seasons past, we have offered the program in turns by invitation/recommendation-only, held tryouts, ran evaluations, and finally had an open policy where all who were interested got to play in the Program. However, after discussing at length with Coach Fisher, we have jointly decided that moving forward we will hold two nights of Pre-Season Camps. The purpose of these Camp nights is to ensure that all registered Academy players are ready to move on to the next stage of learning and are suited to the program. This is NOT a tryout. The Camps will be run more like a practice.
Note: If after the pre-season camps, either you as the parent or the coach feel that the player isn’t quite ready for the academy program, players can return to the rec program with guaranteed roster placement and come back to academy at a later time.
The program fees equal to that of our rec program, $65.
Registration will be in two parts. The first part will be registration for the Camps. There is no registration fee for the Camps. After the two camp nights, full registration for the program will need to be completed. This is when the $65 season fees are due. There is a payment plan option available to assist with fees.

You will see some changes this season in the registration fee amount. Unfortunately, we have seen increases in our fees over the past two years, and while we have tried to keep our fees at the standard $50 registration fee, we are now forced to raise the cost of the season fees.
We have implemented two brackets of increases:
– PreK and K have seen a $5 increase to their season fees bringing their fees to $55.
– U8+ have seen a $15 increase to their season fees bringing their fees to $65.
In recent years/seasons our fees for referees and volunteer background checks has increased. We also have had to replace or repair many of our original goals – now a decade old – and our field maintenance costs have nearly doubled. Essentially, we are dealing with growing pains and fewer volunteers and our small non-profit cannot bear the burden of these increased costs.
To offset these increases we are now offering family discounts for all divisions and payment plans for U8+. For every additional player registered you will receive a $5 discount. Payment plans are splitting fees into two payments. Your initial payment will be $35 due at the time of registration and your second payment, due October 5th, will be $30. See screenshot below of both the family discount and payment plan option. You do not have to select the payment plan, you can still opt to pay all your season fees at once.
Open to players with 2009 through 2002 birth years.

Thank you for your interest in the VYSA Olympic Development Program. Your interest to the program is the result of your commitment, high qualities, and hard work thus far.
Players are required to attend district training sessions. District ODP training is not just about the tryout process for the state pools, but is yet another avenue from which players can grow and develop further. While a player’s club is his/her “home,” district ODP training provides an environment where players are playing with and against the best in their respective areas. District training has a minimum of 7 sessions to include inter-district games in November and December.
After the district training sessions, the State ODP pool will then be selected and the State ODP pool training will begin.
We are looking for players to play for the state that exhibit the skill, character and work ethic to train at all levels of the program. Players are expected to show up to practice on time and be properly prepared to train to include their dress, equipment, water, and character. Players are expected to communicate and discuss any difficulties they have with their pool coach.
Fall tryout/identification for all players takes place during the designated tryout weekend for your district. If you choose to register your player for this program, our coaching staff would need to evaluate your player and identify them to participate in the training pool. Identification fees for ODP are $40 online and $60 onsite.
After the online tryout window is closed, onsite registration will be available the day of the session. Please arrive 30 minutes early for onsite registration.
Once you commit to the program it is expressly understood by all players and their parents/guardians that once accepted to the program they are responsible for all fees associated with the program. No refunds will be given once accepted to the program should a player elect not to participate. Failure to remit payment for any fees associated with the program can result in your player’s suspension from their home club!
Additional information will be communicated to the players by their administrator. Please contact your District Administrator for further details.
Again, thank you for your interest in ODP.
