Annual Meeting

Christiansburg Soccer Club will hold our annual board of directors meeting on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm via Zoom.  This meeting is open to all members of CSC.  During the meeting, we will elect new officers to the board of directors, vote on open director positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  We will also begin preparations for the 2021-22 seasons. If you would like to register to attend this meeting, please email us at christiansburgsoccer@gmail.com.  

CSC is run by a great group of volunteers.  We are looking for additional volunteers to fill vacant board member seats for the next two year term.  If you would like to nominate someone or yourself, please send us an email to christiansburgsoccer@gmail.com prior to the meeting to express your interest.  

2021-22 Season Travel Tryouts

Travel/Competitive Tryouts for the 2021-2022 season are announced.

Is your player interested in playing more competitively?
Are they hoping to play soccer for their middle/high school team?
Are they killing it in rec or academy and ready for the next step?
Then the CSC competitive travel program could be for them.
We are offering team-by-team supplemental tryouts for all interested players the week of 17 May.

Tryouts are open to all new and returning, rec, academy, or travel players birth year 2011 and above, from any area or club.

Players are allowed to tryout for a birth year one year above their own, however they MUST also attend the tryout dates for their current birth year

U10 and U13/14 Rec Game rules for spring 2021

For the spring 2021 season, we will be following the below game rules in the U10 and U13/14 rec divisions. We will be playing in a cross-club division with NRU in Blacksburg.

U10 RULES- 2021

  • The field will be 50 x 30. The goals will be 6 x 12s.  The fields will be lined.
  • All teams will use a size 4 ball 
  • All teams will play 5v5, 4 field players and a goalkeeper.
  • All players will play a minimum of 50% of the playing time.
  • 1 center referee will be used.
    • Substitutions may be made during any stoppage (after injuries, before goal kicks, after goals, before a team’s kick-in, between quarters and at the half).
    • Each game will consist of 2 twenty-five minute halves. There will be a one a five minute halftime.
  • Throw-ins will be taken by the team that did not touch the ball last as it went over the sideline
  • When the goalkeeper takes possession of the ball, the keeper can then roll the ball or pass the ball (Punting and Drop kicking are not allowed) to his/her teammates.  
  • Players will retreat to mid-field.
    • Once the opposing team has retreated to mid-field, the goalkeeper can then roll the ball or pass the ball (Punting and Drop kicking are not allowed) to his/her teammates.  Or a goal kick to his/her players has been taken.
      • The opposing team cannot cross the midfield line until the defender has touched the ball
  • Heading the ball is not allowed and will result in a direct free kick for the opposing team.
    • The penalty for intentional heading is an indirect kick. Unintentional headers are dropped balls.
  • Offsides will not be called by the referee, unless there is blatant “cherry-picking.”
  • Free Kicks – All free kicks are direct or indirect and opponents are at least 8 yards from the ball until it is in play. The ball must be stationary when the kick is taken and the kicker does not touch the ball a second time until it has touched another player. If the free kick is a direct and is kicked directly into the opponents’ goal, a goal is awarded. If the free kick is an indirect, it must be touched by another player before being shot into the goal.

All players* will need cleats, shin guards, water bottle, athletic bottoms, and a ball. We provide the home and away jerseys and one pair of socks per player for any that selected that during registration. (Be sure to keep your provided equipment for the spring season.)

*PreK & K can wear sneakers, but all other divisions will need to wear cleats.

Time for soccer!

Update: Registration for the spring season is closed. Registration for the fall season will open in July. We hope to see you then.

Registration is now open for players 3 -18 years old. To register, click on Register along the upper left side of our website, http://www.csoccer.org.

Registration will remain open through Sunday, 21 February.

Registration fees for the rec program are:
$55 for PreK and Kindergarten
$65 for U8+

Registration for the two other programs are:
$80 for Developmental Academy Program, plus any uniform fees
$175 for the competitive travel program, plus travel, coach, and uniform fees

All programs will have a $3 service fee per transaction. Please see explanation below. 

All rec divisions will begin play in March.

Academy and Travel players will receive their start dates from their managers or coaches.

All players will need a soccer ball, shin guards, water bottle, cleats, and appropriate athletic clothing.

We provide soccer socks and home/away jerseys to all players that selected that option during registration.

Don’t forget to register as a volunteer. We ALWAYS need coaches and team managers. No soccer or coaching experience necessary; we provide all training and equipment.

Rec Divisions:
PreK – players 3-4 years old. Coed.
Kindergarten – players of kindergarten age.  Coed.
U8 – players 8 years old and under (or first and second grade).
U10 – players 10 years old and under (or third and fourth grade).
U13 – players 13 years old or under (or players in fifth, sixth, or seventh grade).
U18 – players 18 years old or younger (or eighth through twelfth grade).

Return to Play Guidelines: 2020-21 Season

Return to Play Guidelines:

Please review the following Return to Play Guidelines prior to registering your player for the 2020-21 season. These guidelines have been developed in accordance with national, state, and local safety guidelines and measures.

Subject to change.

For everyone:

  • If you have been sick or have flu-like symptoms or symptoms known to be associated with Covid-19, or have been exposed to someone who has been sick or is showing flu-like symptoms or symptoms known to be associated with Covid-19, DO NOT attend any CSC activities or events. 
  • If you have tested positive for Covid-19, or have been exposed to someone who has, please notify us at christiansburgsoccer@gmail.com right away. 
  • Stay home if you do not feel comfortable following national, state, local, or club guidelines. 
  • Cover your cough and/or sneeze with a tissue/cloth or your elbow.
  • Avoid unnecessary physical contact and maintain social distance.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Disinfect equipment and clothing regularly.
  • Wear a mask in accordance with state and local guidelines. Masks are recommended by everyone who is not actively playing or involved in training.
  • Participants, Coaches, and Spectators should maintain a minimum of 10 feet apart where practical.

At the fields:

  • Sanitation stations will be at all field locations.
  • No one is allowed to enter the field space if they’re showing flu symptoms or symptoms known to be associated with Covid-19, or knows they’ve been in contact with someone who is.
  • Maintain social distance of 10 feet while observing, supporting, or on sidelines, where practical.
  • Masks are encouraged by all on the field.

For Volunteers:

  • Masks must be worn at all times when speaking within 6′ of players. If further than 6′ away from players, masks may be lowered to project your voice further.
  • No shared equipment between players. 
  • Encourage keeping bags/water away from other players. 
  • No congratulatory touching; handshakes, hugs, fist bumps, elbow knocks, etc.. 
  • Please keep to drills and games that allow for distance between players. 
  • Encourage the use of the entire field space and not to clump together.

For Players:

  • Bring their own equipment. 
  • No shared keeper gloves, balls, water bottles, jerseys, or similar. 
  • No congratulatory touching; handshakes, hugs, fist bumps, elbow knocks, etc.. 
  • Use of masks is encouraged while on the sidelines but optional when on the field.

For Families:

  • Social distance must be maintained while on the fields. Recommended 10 feet of distance when practical.
  • Do not allow players to participate that are ill or showing flu-like symptoms or symptoms known to be associated with Covid-19. 
  • Encourage players to wash frequently at the sanitation areas at the field and to cover their coughs or sneezes with a tissue/cloth or their elbow. 
  • Masks are encouraged on the sideline for all family members supporting their players. 
  • Players are also encouraged to wear masks while on the sideline and are optional for practice and matches. 
  • No shared equipment between players, including balls, water bottles, keeper gloves, jerseys, and the like. 

Practices:

  • Physical contact will be limited for drills however scrimmages will be allowed.
  • Congregating in groups is discouraged.
  • Carpooling should be limited whenever possible.
  • Handling the ball should be limited as much as possible. 

Matches:

  • Per Virginia Governor’s office, matches are permitted during Phase 3
  • Matches will be spaced out so there is less cross-over on the fields between matches. 
  • REC matches may small-sided matches (3v3 or 5v5) depending on age and number of participating players to reduce team size and the number of players on the field. 
  • ACADEMY and TRAVEL matches will be played in accordance with guidelines in place with area clubs and the Skyline League.

Congratulations, Team

Please help us in congratulating our 18UG team for their recent performance at the 2020 Piedmont Shootout.

The team, head coaches by Matt Mullens, were finalists at the tournament held in Martinsville last weekend.

They competed in the Women’s U19 High School Division with wins again Salem, VAFC, Botetourt, and PYSL, and a draw with Vista Freedom FC finishing with a tournament record of 3-0-1.

Great showing team! We’re so proud of you. What a way to end your season.
